Community Benefits

Troy Park will be a model for economic and community development and will provide six key benefits to the citizens of Howard County and the state of Maryland:

  1. Accelerate park development: This project by HCTP will kick start the development of much needed recreational space in the County, particularly in the Elkridge community.
  2. Help Howard be healthy: This world-class facility will provide public access to both indoor and outdoor recreational space, thereby enhancing and promoting the health and quality of life of the citizens of Howard County.
  3. Expand tennis and sports learning opportunities: The Center will be available for community sports and educational programs sponsored by or in cooperation with Howard County schools. This partnership will forge a stronger link between sports and education in Howard County.
  4. Attract tennis spectators: National and regional professional tennis events will attract spectators to this state-of-the-art sports center. These spectators will spend money in Howard County and surrounding areas, generating tax dollars. An independent analysis projects an economic impact to Howard County in excess of $69 million during construction and in the first three years of operation.
  5. Reap financial benefits: Troy Park Tennis and Sports Center will be a sound financial venture, generating over $4 million in land rent to Howard County in its first 10 years of operation and $1 million annually thereafter.
  6. Build, Work and Play Green: The Center will serve as a regional model for green construction and environmentally friendly practices.
